A warm up and it can be a calm down also.

Students stand in a circle, at their desks or wherever you want them. Select a number for the students to count to. For example 1-3 or 1-7, depending on the timeframe you have in mind and the students involved. 

Everyone counts loudly from 1-?,  whilst shaking their right arm, repeat with their left arm, right leg and left leg and so on.

Here are some different next steps.

  • Then repeat 1-6, 1-5 etc counting down.

  • Shake the left arm counting up, the right arm counting down. Then repeat with other limbs.

  • Add in a clap between shaking the right arm to shaking the left arm etc. 

  • Add in a clap between shaking the right arm to shaking the left arm, but change the placement of the clap. In front, behind the back, over the head, to the sides.


Online

To do this warm up online you only need to change the action to suit sitting. Maybe standing up and down could be one of the actions. Blinking or winking.
