Working together and listening to each other is essential to achieve in this activity.
The objective of the activity is to count from 1 to the total number of people in the group or class, without double ups or mistakes.
All students lay on the floor, or sit at a desk with their heads down. Without looking or planning who is to say a number when, the students start to count. Someone starts with one, then the next person says two and so on, until everyone has been part of the count.
If a number is said by two people at the same time, the count is to start again.
If a number is said out of sequence, or repeated, the count is to start again.
Each time the count starts a new person is to start. The pattern is not to be repeated, it is to be done at random.
The class could discuss what is needed to achieve their goal. Yes, it can be done!
Options
