I'm a teacher like you who discovered the fun of using drama in the classroom. This site is a way to share some ideas and encourage you to give it a go or use it more.

Nau mai, haere mai

Over twenty years ago I would never have guessed that Drama would become such a big part of my teaching career. To me teaching has always been about doing things, having fun somewhere, some how along the way. Not easy with all the pressures and expectations, from lots of different quarters, that are placed on teachers .

Drama has been my way of achieving this, for myself and the students.

My teaching career has been in the primary and secondary sectors. Giving me opportunities to teach Drama as a subject and provide opportunities for students who just want to do Drama.

The hard work and fun has included performing with colleagues in a Mystery Murder. Rehearsals were hilarious. A little 48 Hour Film fun with more colleagues and students. Then there has also been productions, Stage Challenge or Show Quest. Even a couple of traveling shows some students took to other schools. These were not big shows but they were appreciated by the audience and enheartened the performers.

There is a lot about Drama that I don't know, but I know it's needed and can be an awesome way for kids to express ideas, learn new things and have a little fun. I just want to pass on the ideas and encourage others to give it a go, to use Drama in some way. It would be great if people would share their thoughts, experiences and ideas so we can all pay it forward together. This site is going to be a work in progress, so it will grow slowly. I hope this will be with your help.

Lastly, I am not being paid to do this, it is the love of Drama driving the site. To help pay for the site, there are some items which will incur a small cost. I look forward to hearing you have found something of use and given Drama a shot.
