Using drama in the classroom
Using drama in the classroom should not be daunting. You do not need to be a drama professional, just be willing to give it a try.
This site has games and activities, unit ideas and hopefully you will find ways to integrate drama into the classroom across the curriculum.
Growing Key Competencies
Control of voice and movement, working together, taking turns and following a process or instructions.
We want our students to do them all!
This lesson plan has a few ideas that may help.
WELCOME BACK!
New students, familiar students, here we go again.
Coming back from holiday means resetting expectations and boundaries. Plus there is the establishing new relationships and reinforcing former ones.
Here are some fun ways to help do this and they could be used as a brain break.
Act it out
Why say it when you can show it.
Students can individually think of two things they did over the weekend. Then pair up with others who did the same or similar thing. They can then create freeze frames to show what they did.
Or perhaps they could mime the activities and the class can guess what it is.
2 Truth's, 1 Lie
Creative thinking is needed. Students think of 2 things they did, and 1 that they didn't do. The trick is the make the lie plausible.
Students plan individually, share with a partner, then a small group. The group could then decide which one to challenge the class with.
Time for a break
Re-energise, brain break or just because you want can.
